RONALD WOOD, 22, DIES AFTER BEING IN LONG COMA

CLEAR LAKE – Ronald Wood, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Wood, died early Sunday at a Des Moines hospital. He had been in an automobile accident July 5 and had been unconscious since.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Wilcox Funeral Home.

Ronald Dale Wood was born Aug. 23, 1939. He had lived in the Clear Lake community his entire life. He attended Clear Lake schools and was graduated as valedictorian from Clear Lake High School in 1957. While in high school he was a member of Honor Society, Junior Classical League, C Club and Future Farmers of America. Active in sports, he participated in football, basketball, baseball and track.

Studying to be a veterinarian, he attended Iowa State College two years. He was married to Lila Gay Mintle, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Mintle, Des Moines, in September 1959.

Survivors include his wife, daughter, Kelley Lynn, 16 months old, both of Des Moines; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Wood; three brothers, Russell, Mason City; Richard and Rae; grandfather, Thomas M. Hanson, and grandmother, Mrs. Harvey Wood, all of Clear Lake.

NOTE – Mr. Wood is buried in Clear Lake Cemetery. Headstone reads “Ronald D. Wood July 23, 1939 – December 24, 1961.”
