MRS. B. WOOD DIES IN SOUTH MAY 18, 1886 – DECEMBER 17, 1954
CLEAR LAKE – Mrs. Byron C. Wood, 68, Hayward, Wis., and formerly of Clear Lake, died at a hospital at Lake City, Fla., Friday. She had been in poor health for several years. She spent a month in Clear Lake with her son, Edward Wood, rural, before leaving for Florida with her husband to spend the winter months.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Wilcox Funeral Home and burial will be in the Clear Lake Cemetery. The body arrived Monday morning, accompanied by the husband.
Mrs. (Maud McGuiness) Wood was born in Clear Lake, May 18, 1886, spending her girlhood in Clear Lake. She was married to Byron C. Wood Nov. 15, 1905, at Clear Lake. They settled on a farm here, staying there, with the exception of a few years spent in Idaho, until 1929 when they moved to Hayward.
Surviving are her husband, four sons, Edward Wood, Clear Lake; Roy, Boise, Idaho; Wilbur, Brainerd, Minn.; and Milton, Spanish Fork, Utah; and three daughters, Vivien Frye, Cumberland, Wis.; Lois Williams, Des Moines, and Vera McKibben, Seal Beach, Calif.
She is also survived by 26 grandchildren and four great grandchildren; four sisters, Nettie Young and Mrs. Henry Barshall, Clear Lake; Mrs. Walter Davis, Mason City; Mrs. Jack Buss, Des Moines; and two brothers, Eilliam McGuiness, Sumner, and Hugh McGuiness, Des Moines.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John McGuiness.
