MABEL EMILY BITKER

CLEAR LAKE - Mabel Emily Bitker, 93, of 2005 N. Shore Drive, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday (March 21, 1997) at Willow Creek Health Care Center, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Evangelical Free Church, with Pastor Larry Yeoman and Dr. Cal Hanson officiating. Interment will be in Clear Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St.

Mabel was born May 25, 1903, in Holt, Minn., the daughter of Erick and Betsy (Danielson) Johnson. She attended school in Holt, Minn.

Mabel married John Bitker on July 15, 1936, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. They farmed near Kensett and retired from the farm in 1948.

They owned and operated a four plex in Manly. They moved to Turlock and Ledo Island, Newport Beach, Calif., for 10 years then moved to Clear Lake in 1961. Mabel enjoyed traveling and entertaining.

She was a member of the Evangelical Free Church, Clear Lake.

Mabel is survived by two daughters, Mildred Clemenson, Kensett, and Geraldine Kaloplasto, Lowell, Ark.; son, Johnnie Bitker and his wife, Marian, Tucson, Ariz.; a daughter-in-law, Karen Bitker, Oceanside, Calif.; two sisters, Gaya Gasper, Vallijo, Calif., and Alida Stephens, Cleveland, Tenn.; one brother, Engval Johnson, Minneapolis, Minn.; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

Mabel was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Gladys Dahl; son, Maurice Bitker; son-in-law, Gunder Clemenson; eight brothers and sisters; and two grandchildren.
