OLDEST RESIDENT PASSED AWAY SATURDAY

Clear Lake’s oldest resident, Mrs. Mary L. Wright, 93, 115 Fifth street, passed away Saturday morning of the frailties of age. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2:30 from William’s funeral home. Mrs. Ida C. Campbell, read the service of the Church of Christ Scientist, and burial was made in the Clear Lake cemetery.

Pallbearers were Herman Buss, Ralph Hayden, Harry Mason, W. J. McGowan, V. M. Wallis and Leland Patterson. Mrs. Hayden arranged the flowers.

Mary L. Neal was born Aug. 23, 1846, at Georgetown, Wis., and in 1972 came to Chapin with her parents. On Dec. 21, 1976, she was married to Amos E. Wright at Chapin, who passed away May 6, 1917.

Mr. and Mrs. Wright moved to Clear Lake in 1910 and in recent years she has made her home with her nephew, E. H. Neal. Mrs. Wright reared Mr. Neal from a baby. She has been in failing health since Labor Day and has been confined to her bed for four weeks.

She is survived by her son, Clyde N. Wright, Mr. Neal, a cousin Grant Carroll, Sturgeon Lake, Minn.; two grandchildren and a grandniece.

Among out-of-town relatives attending the services were a sister-in-law, Mrs. Sadie Wright, Chapin, two nieces, Mrs. Ray Stanfield, DesMoines, and Mrs. Ella Peter, Sheffield; Mrs. Peter’s sons, fay and Lavine Peter, Sheffield; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Neal, Hampton; Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Thomas, Chapin and Mr. Carroll.

Mrs. Wright was interviewed in the Mirror just a month ago shortly after her 93rd birthday. She told of her pioneer days in Wisconsin and some of her early memories of Clear Lake.
