H. DARLENE JOHNSON

CLEAR LAKE - H. Darlene Johnson, 77, of 706 N. 10th St., died Thursday (Nov. 14, 1996) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St. Visitation will begin after 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to the H. Darlene Johnson Memorial Fund.

H. Darlene Johnson was born July 28, 1919, in West Des Moines, the daughter of Orville Clayton and Helen (Wallace) Cox. She graduated from Valley High School in West Des Moines in 1937.

Darlene married Joseph Robert Johnson on Oct. 22, 1939, in West Des Moines. They moved to Clear Lake in 1945 when her husband was transferred with the Ruan Transport Company.

Darlene enjoyed bowling, cooking and being with her grandchildren. She was a member of the Clear Lake VFW Auxiliary.

Darlene is survived by her daughter, Kathy Jo Becker and her husband, Roger, of Clear Lake; two grandchildren, Jeffrey Becker and his wife, Gayle, and Joel Becker, both of Clear Lake; two great-grandchildren, Ryan and Kyle Becker, Clear Lake; one brother, Lester Cox and his wife, Edna, of Fullerton, Calif.; and three nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband on November 1977.
