CLEAR LAKE - Julie A. Nelson 91, formerly of Clear Lake, died Saturday (March 4, 2006) in Herrin, Ill.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St. in Clear Lake, with Monsignor Robert Hogan officiating.
Julie A. Nelson was born the daughter of Alfonso and Giustina (Vicoli) DiMarco in Mason City. She graduated from Mason City High School in 1931.
Julie married Gordon Nelson on Dec. 25, 1948, in Mason City. She was a homemaker to her family and a former member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Clear Lake. Julie was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed supporting the Hawkeyes.
Julie is survived by her three children, Marie Borchers of Lilburn, Ga., Michele Phelps of Herrin, Ill., and Janet (Derek) Thompson of Boone; three stepchildren, MaraBeth (Larry) McBride of Rogers, Ark., Lora Ann Quartuccio of Tulsa, Okla., and Wilbur (Sharon) Nelson of Benicia, Calif.; four grandchildren, Scott (Audrey) Borchers of Sautee, Ga., Sara (Jason) Berube of Loganville, Ga., Rachel (Daniel) Duggan of Surprise, Ariz., and Martha Thompson of Boone; one great-grandson, Ryan Duggan of Surprise, Ariz.; 11 step-grandchildren; and step-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Levino (Lena) DiMarco of Mason City and Gus (Judy) DiMarco of Clear Lake; one sister, Teresa Danehy of Calif.; and three sisters-in-law, Mitzi DiMarco of Egan, Minn., Kay DiMarco of Mason City and Dorothy Arbuckle of Eastsound, Wash.
Julie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Gordon, on May 24, 1992; sisters, Autilia (Ottie) Baccanale and Lucia Mataloni; brothers, Rocco, Richard, Jim, Nick and Al DiMarco.
