MARY “MAE” NELSON
CLEAR LAKE - Mary “Mae” Nelson, 75, of 913 Seventh Ave. North, Clear Lake, died Thursday (Nov. 28, 1996) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East, Mason City.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Zion Lutheran Church, 112 Fourth St. North, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Kermit Roisen officiating. Burial will be in the Clear Lake Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Monday at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., Clear Lake, and also one hour prior to services at the church.
Mary “Mae” Nelson was born May 25, 1921, at Eagle Grove, the daughter of Clyde and Anna Mary (Wernet) Enfield. Most of Mae's school years were completed in Woolstock, and then she graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1938.
She married Ernest “Mick” Nelson on April 28, 1941, in Albert Lea, Minn.
Mae worked at several places in Clear Lake, including the Clear Lake Creamery, the Truck Stop, the Lake Cafe, and she was a part-time cook at the Senior Citizen's Center.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, the president of the Hope Circle, and a member of T.O.P.S. and a card club.
She is survived by one son, David E. Nelson and his wife, Gloria, of Baltimore, Md.; one daughter, Judy Neuberger and her husband, David, of Thornton; four grandchildren, Michelle Luscombe and her husband, Brent, of Thornton, Mike Stout of Clear Lake, Melody Stout of Mason City, and Laura Nelson of Baltimore, Md.; four step-grandchildren, David Neuberger II and his wife, Kerry, of Klemme, Julie Anderson and her husband, Lance, of Clear Lake, and Nicole Neuberger and Johan Neuberger, both of Thornton; three great-grandchildren, Whitney Luscombe and Brandon Luscombe, both of Thornton, and Miranda Stout of Mason City; one step-great-grandchild, David Neuberger III of Klemme; a sister-in-law, Maxine Enfield; a brother-in-law, Ralph Nelson and his wife, Dorothy; a sister-in-law, Marie Poppeck; a sister-in-law, Barbara Gaines and her husband, Bob; and a sister-in-law, Margaret Nelson; and many cousins, nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brother, Franklin Enfield; and two children, Larry Wayne and Richard Paul.
