Mr. Paul L. Strickfaden, 80, of Clear Lake, died Friday, May 26, 1995, at the
Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City, Iowa.

Funeral services were held Thursday, June 1, at the United Methodist Church,
Clear Lake, with the Rev. Fred Lewis officiating. Interment was in the Clear
Lake Cemetery, Clear Lake. Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel was in charge. A
Masonic service was held Wednesday at the funeral home. The family suggests
memorials to the Paul L. Strickfaden Memorial Fund.

Paul was born Jan. 1, 1915, in Otterville, Mo., the son of Albert Strickfaden
and Daisy Ella Strickfaden (nee) Laws. He graduated from Otterville High School
and Central Missouri State University in 1937 with a degree in education.

He married Velma Stair on Aug. 21, 1938, in East Lynne, Mo.
Paul obtained his Master's Degree in education from the University of Iowa in
1947. He had been involved in education for over 30 years and has served as
superintendent in many different schools in Iowa.

After retiring from education he moved to Clear Lake, in 1974. In the
summertime he worked for Square Deal Insurance as a fieldman. He worked full
time for the company from 1972-1980. He enjoyed gardening, canning and
woodworking. He made bedroom sets, end tables and other furniture which his
family has enjoyed. He also enjoyed working with leather, polishing rocks
(lapidary), playing bridge, fishing and hunting.

Paul and Velma loved to travel and spent the last 14 winters in Mission, Texas.
He was a member of the Clear Lake United Methodist Church, Clear Lake; Order of
Eastern Star, Past Patron; and Verity Masonic Lodge, Clear Lake.

He is survived by his wife, Velma Strickfaden, Clear Lake; two daughters,
Sandra Gaertner, White Bear Lake, Minn., and Donna Whittington and her husband,
Jim, Inver Grove Heights, Minn.; three grandchildren, Rebecca Rudman, Iowa City,
Iowa, Barry Rudman and his wife, Donara, Woodbury, Minn., and James Whittington,
Inver Grove Heights; three great-grandchildren, Abigail Reisner, Trevor Reisner,
both of Iowury, Minn., and James Whittington, Inver Grove Heights; three
great-grandchildren, Abigail Reisner, Trevor Reisner, both of Iowa City, Iowa,
and Quincy Rudman, Woodbury, Minn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Monroe Strickfaden; an
infant son, Thomas Strickfaden; one sister, Beartha Weamer; and one son-in-law,
Joseph Gaertner.

Organist Mary Jane Reynolds accompanied soloist Marilyn Sadler.

Pallbearers were Robert Rudman, Barry Rudman, Keith Reason, Dr. M.L. Knutson,
Amil Herker Jr., Orvil Templeton.
