Helen E. Wistey, 91, died Monday, June 5, 1995, at the Livingston Health and
Rehab Center of natural causes.

Funeral services were held Thursday, June 8, at the Franzen-Davis-Bebee Chapel,
with the Rev. Harlan Durgan, minister of the Livingston Congregational Church
officiating. Cremation followed the service and burial of her remains will
be in Clear Lake.

Helen was born Sept. 22, 1903, at Clear Lake, the daughter of Chris Hansen and
Christine (nee) Johannessen Hansen.

She graduated from high school in Clear Lake and from Hamilton Business College
in Mason City, Iowa.

After working for a brief time at the state legislature in Des Moines, she moved
to Clear Lake and worked as a secretary for attorney, E.B. Stillman, the
Imperial Seed Company, Stuart Realty and the United Home Bank in Mason City.
Her secretarial skills were superlative and she could type 120 words a minute
without errors. She was also a baker, which she learned from her mother, who
had been chef to one of Denmark's kings. In 1939 she married Almer Lloyd Wistey.
She made her home in Clear Lake until moving to Livingston in 1983 to be closer
to her son and his family.

She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Clear Lake and a friend of the
Congregational Church of Livingston and its pastor.

She is survived by a son, David and his wife, Chris Wistey; and three
grandsons, Mark, Chad and Eric Wistey, all of Livingston.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Axel.
