Dorothy C. Hansen, 82, of Clear Lake, Iowa, died Thursday, Sept. 25, 1997 at
North Iowa Mercy Health Center East Campus, Mason City, Iowa.

Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 29, at Zion Lutheran Church, Clear
Lake, with the Rev. Kermit Roisen officiating. Interment was in Clear Lake
Cemetery, Clear Lake. The Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in
charge of arrangements. The family suggests memorials to the Zion Lutheran
Church Radio broadcasting.

Dorothy was born July 10, 1915 in Sioux City, Iowa, the daughter of Rev.
Benjamin W. and Vera Lucille (Hauswald) Riner. She graduated from Sheldon High
School in 1933. Dorothy moved to Clear Lake in 1934 and married Arnot Robert
Hansen Nov. 14, 1934.

She graduated from Iowa Teachers College, Cedar Falls, Iowa, with a degree in
education, and from Passevant Deaconess School of Nursing, Chicago, Ill. in
1936. She taught in Grant Township #6 then in the Rockford Elementary. She then
worked for the Nursing Home in Clear Lake for eight and one-half years.

Dorothy has been a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake, since 1934 and
helped Rev. Murley Severtson with confirmation. She then took over teaching
classes for two generations. Dorothy was one of the initial founders of the Zion
Lutheran Church Library and was very active in the Sunday School Program. She
was Past Grand Noble of Tina Rebekah Lodge #135; Chaplain eight years of Star
Club; past president of AmVets Auxiliary, member of VFW Auxiliary; National
Federations of Grandmothers; Life member of National and Iowa Educational
Association.

She is survived by two sons, Robert Arnot Hansen, Minneapolis, Minn. and Harold
Dean Hansen, Shakopee, Minn.; and one daughter, Patricia Louise Davis, Garden
Grove, Calif.; grandmother of 10 and lots of great-grandchildren; one sister,
Vera Jean Kalde, Vancouver, Wash.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; stepfather and one grandson.

Organist Karen Harthan accompanied special music provided by Paul and Anita
Langholz and family.

Honorary pallbearers were the Tina Rebekah Lodge #135.

Pallbearers were Larry Secory, Wayne Coyier, Ken Lincicum, Joel Secory, Robert
Gundel, Tom Hollatz and James Ransom..
