Dale E. Barlow, 81, of Clear Lake, died Saturday, Dec 24, 1994, at the
Muse-Norris Hospice Impatient Unit in Mason City, Iowa.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 27, at the United Methodist Church in
Clear Lake, with the Rev. Fred Lewis officiating. Burial was in Mt. Vernon
Township Cemetery.

Dale E. Barlow was born July 11, 1913, on the family farm in Mt. Vernon
Township, rural Cerro Gordo County, the son of James Barlow and Nettie (nee)
VanHorn Barlow.

He attended rural schools and farmed the family farm. He was employed as clerk
for Mt. Vernon Township. He also was a lineman for the rural telephone
company. After his retirement, he continued to help out on the farm.

On May 29, 1934, he married Doris Bussa in the parsonage of the Congregational
Church in Clear Lake.

The couple moved into Clear Lake in 1970 from the farm and from 1970-78 he was
employed by Stinehart Implement in Clear Lake. He was president of the Clear
Lake Noon Lions and was named Lion of the Decade by that organization in 1990.
He was credited with having high ticket sales for the clubs annual Chicken
Barbecue.

Dale was a member of the United Methodist Church in Clear Lake and a former
school board member for Mt. Vernon Township.

He is survived by his wife, Doris, Clear Lake; five sons, Donald Barlow and
his wife, Helen, Gladewater, Texas, Irvin Barlow and his wife, Jane, Longview,
Texas, Raymond Barlow and his wife, Sharon of Columbus, Neb., Larry Barlow and
his wife, Linda of Clear Lake, and Dennis Barlow and his wife, Yasko of Aloha,
Ore.; 15 grandchildren, Richard Barlow, James Keith Barlow, John Barlow, Joe
Barlow, Greg Barlow, James A. Barlow, James K. Barlow, Judson D. Barlow, Donna
Craig, Gwen Schumaker, Teresa Klein, Sheila Groeneweg, Kimberly Barlow, Emily
Barlow and Pamela Barlow; 15 great-grandchildren, Jeremy Craig, Justin Craig,
Jessica Schumaker, Jeffrey Barlow, Justin Barlow, Joshua Barlow, Zachary
Klein, Nicholas Klein, Jacob Klein, Molly Barlow, Samantha Barlow, Audrey
Barlow, Raymond Barlow, Shilo Bentz and Sara Barlow.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Wayne Barlow and Vern
Barlow; three sisters, Gae Oehlsen, Mae Caffrey and Gennivieve Wood.

Pallbearers were Richard Barlow, John Barlow, Greg Barlow, James Keith Barlow,
Joe Barlow, Ted Klein.
