Billy Lee Bergman Sr., 66, of 717 North 13th Street, Clear Lake, died Friday,
Aug. 24, 2001 at his home.

A funeral service was held Tuesday, August 28, at Ward Van Slyke Colonial
Chapel, Clear Lake, with the Rev. David Gobeli officiating.

Interment followed at Clear Lake Cemetery where military honors were conducted
by the Clear Lake VFW Post. Memorials may be directed to the Billy Lee Bergman
Memorial Fund, 717 North 13th Street, Clear Lake, Iowa, 50428.

Bill was born Nov.26, 1934 in Britt, Iowa, one of six children born to Bennie
and Helen (Broome) Bergman. He served in the United States Army from Dec. 1951
until Dec. 1954 during the Korean Conflict. Bill was united in marriage to
Barbara (Bobbie) Ostendorf on Aug. 5, 1954 while stationed at Fort Campbell,
Kentucky. After his discharge from the service they lived in Clear Lake. After
that, they lived in southern Calif. for ten years and in Canon City, Colo. for
four years. They returned to Clear Lake where Bill worked at Curries
Manufacturing until his retirement in 1997. Bill loved to write poetry and make
people laugh. He also loved his God dearly.

Billy will be greatly missed by his wife, Bobbie, of Clear Lake; four children,
Eddie Bergman and his special friend, Ann Sanchez, Kevin Bergman and his wife,
Debra, and Terry Bergman and his wife, Connie, all of Mason City, and Janie
Bergman Bernhoft and her husband, Patrick, of Clear Lake; two daughters-in-law,
Shelly McCauley of Hanlontown and Ronda Fredrickson of Tacoma, Wash.; ten
grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Billy was preceded in death by a son, Billy L. Bergman Jr., otherwise known as
³Shorty²; his mother, Helen Austin; a brother, Randy; and a sister, Joann.
