Cecil Mae Broers, 94, formerly of Clear Lake, died Thursday, Aug. 16, 2001, at
the IOOF Home in Mason City, Iowa. Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 20,
at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, with the Rev. David Anderson
of St. James Lutheran Church in Mason City officiating. Interment was in the
Clear Lake Cemetery. The family suggests Memorials to the IOOF Home or Muse
Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit.

Cecil Mae (Walls) Broers, the daughter of Isaac and Lola (Sanders) Walls, was
born on Jan. 3, 1907, at Modesto, Ill. She was united in marriage to Emil J.
Broers on Dec. 29, 1926, in Mason City, Iowa. The couple farmed in rural Mason
City. After retiring in 1970, the couple moved into Clear Lake. Cecil was a
wonderful homemaker who loved to take care of her children, and later, her
grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. She enjoyed
cooking and gardening, and she took great pride in her flower garden.

Cecil is survived by two sons, Billy Broers and his wife, Marilyn, of Mason
City, and Emil Broers Jr. and his wife, Anita, of Ventura; six grandchildren,
Janell Hejlik and her husband, Brick, Darla Steenhard and her husband, Gary,
Alesa Sweers and her husband, Ron, Twyla Doyle and her husband, Bryant, Troy
Broers and his wife, Dana, and Tom Broers and his wife, Tanya; 14
great-grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1988; and five
brothers, Howard, Russell, Leonard, Ralph, and Donald.
