James Darrell Frampton, 83, 1200 10th Ave N., Clear Lake, died Monday, Oct.
29, 2007 at Mercy Medical Center of North Iowa, Mason City, Iowa. A memorial
service was held Friday, Nov. 2, at the Clear Lake United Methodist Church with
the Rev. Diana Hoover officiating. Inurnment was at the Clear Lake Cemetery
with military honors provided by the Clear Lake V.F.W. Post 4868. Memorials
may be given to the James D. Frampton Memorial Fund.

Jim was born June 22, 1924 in Boone, Iowa, the son of Willard and Goldie
(Harden) Frampton. He attended school in Jordon Township. After graduating he
enlisted in the United States Navy. He served during WWII and had an honorable
discharge. Jim married Elsie Grace Walsh on Aug. 8, 1946 in Boone. Jim and
Elsie operated a bowling alley and night club in Roseberg, Ore. They moved to
Clear Lake in 1964. Jim started working for the Clear Lake police force in 1970
in law enforcement. He became the Clear Lake Police Chief in 1976, retiring in
1987.

Jim enjoyed spending time with his family. He was an avid bowler, and was
in the Clear Lake Hall of Fame. He loved playing pool with the boys at the
V.F.W., gambling, and Iowa Hawkeye athletics. He also loved fishing and
watching his grandkids play sports.

Jim is survived by three children, Kerry James Frampton and his wife, Dee,
Lake of the Ozarks, Mo., Kenneth John Frampton and his wife, Deborah, Clear
Lake, and Kathy Jean Astor and her husband, Bill, Clear Lake; six
grandchildren, Jamie, Kelly, Kerry Jay, Brandon and his wife, Jenny, David and
Ethan; step-grandchild, Jamie Jo; great-grandson, Dilyn Kaj; brothers, DeWayne
Frampton and his wife, Marilyn, Boone, and George Frampton, Michigan; sister,
Goldie, Michigan; nephews, Tim Frampton and Kevin Frampton; and cousin, Dean
Kemmerer, Clear Lake.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Elsie, on Oct. 9, 2004.
