Lawrence "Larry" D. Secory, 80, of 1810 N. 8th St., Clear Lake, died Saturday,
June 24, 2006 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City, Iowa.
Services will be Wednesday, 10:30 a.m., at Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake,
with Pastor Jeff Ungs of Galilean Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will be
in the Clear Lake Cemetery. Military honors will be by the Clear Lake V.F.W.
Family suggests memorials to the Larry Secory Memorial Fund or Hospice of North
Iowa.

Larry was born July 1, 1925 in Clear Lake, the son of Edward. L. and Essie
(Kimball) Secory. While in high school he played football, baseball and
basketball and was all conference in football and also played alto saxophone and
had received All State and National Honors. He was also the senior class
president.

Following high school he enlisted in the United States Navy and served on the
U.S.S. Chopper Submarine station in Pearl Harbor during W.W. II. After the
service he moved back to Clear Lake. He played on the Clear Lake V.F.W.
basketball team that won the state championship.

Larry married his high school sweet heart, Betty Foster, on Sept. 14, 1946 at
Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake. He graduated from Mason City Business College.
Larry started working for his father, E.L. Secory, in the plumbing business and
continued in the plumbing business until he retired.

He enjoyed gardening, golfing, hunting, the monthly class reunion committee
meetings and attending the small prayer group meetings at Galilean Lutheran
Church.

He served on the Clear Lake City Council for two terms, was a long time member
of Zion Lutheran Church where he was past president and former Sunday School
teacher and was a life time member of Clear Lake V.F.W..

Larry will be sadly missed by his wife, Betty, Clear Lake; three children: Joel
Secory and his wife, Julie, Jon Secory and his wife, Sue, and Sue Dwyer and her
husband, Kim, all of Clear Lake; nine grandchildren: Joel Secory II and his
wife, Amanda, Clear Lake, Dr. Adam Secory and his wife, Jaime, Waukee, Iowa,
Allison Secory, West Des Moines, Iowa, Ted Secory, West Des Moines, Michael
Dwyer and his fiancé, Shelby Gallagher, Clear Lake, Tim Secory, West Des Moines,
Scott Dwyer, West Des Moines, Andrew "Rip" Secory, Clear Lake, and Cory Dwyer,
Clear Lake; two great-grandchildren, Quintin Masteller and Elle Ryan Secory and
one brother, Don Secory and his wife, Marge, Hemet, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter and one brother,
Ralph Secory.
