J. D. Hazelton Rites Held Tuesday at 2 – Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. for J.D. Hazelton, 88, of Ventura Heights, who died Sunday at a Mason City nursing home where he had lived for 10 years.
Pastor Darwin G. Reiter officiated at the Ward Funeral Home. Allen Koepke was organist. Pallbearers were Kenneth Borrill, Ray Borrill, Howard Brower and Ronald Gard. Burial was in Ventura Cemetery.
John D. Hazelton was born Feb. 4, 1874, at Cuba City, Wis., the son of Francis and Marguerite (Miller) Hazelton. Following his education he taught school several years at Chapin and Latimer until he retired in 1935 and moved to Ventura Heights to make his home with his brother, Sherman, who preceded him in death in 1948.
He lived alone until 1951 when he entered the Mason City nursing home. He is survived by one son, Marion E. Hazelton, Ridgecrest, Calif., who was unable to attend the services.
Note – Mr. Hazelton died in 1962.
