Ernest Minton, Ventura, Dies – Aged Man Former Rural Mail Carrier – CLEAR LAKE – Ernest Minton, 82, a long time resident of Ventura, died early Saturday morning at a nursing home in Mason City where he was taken a few days ago. Funeral services will probably be held Tuesday at the Evangelical United Brethren church in Ventura with burial in Ventura Cemetery. The Rev E.M. Miller, pastor, will officiate. The body is at Ward’s funeral home.
Mr. Minton was born Dec. 27, 1867, near Fort Dodge, Webster county, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Minton. He grew up in that community and taught rural schools there before coming to Ventura. He was a rural mail carrier out of Ventura for 15 years.
In 1895 he was married to Miss Edith Pierce, Ventura, and they continued to live there. She died 22 years ago.
Mr. Minton is survived by 2 daughters, Mrs. James Hyde, Ventura and Mrs. Herman Hunt, Los Angeles, Cal.; a son, Earl Minton, Mason City; a sister, Miss Stella Minton, Bemidji, Minn., 2 grand-children and 4 great-grand-children.
Besides his wife he was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and 3 children, Floyd, Clarice and an infant son.
