Martin J. "Marty" Olson, 52, of 1200 10th Street N., Clear Lake, died Tuesday,
Aug. 26, 2003 at Muse Norris Hospice, Mason City.
Graveside services were held Thursday, Aug. 28, at Clear Lake Cemetery, Clear
Lake, with the Rev. Dennis Ganz, officiating. Military honors were conducted by
members of Clear Lake VFW.

Martin J. Olson was born June 25, 1951 at Mason City, a son of Dale and Joan
(Jodan) Olson. Marty attended Clear Lake schools. He served in the U.S. Army
during the Vietnam War, stationed in Germany and Korea. Following his discharge,
he lived and worked in Utah and Colorado. He later worked as a guide in the
Boundary Waters, in northern Minnesota. For several years, he served as the grounds
superintendent at Rest Haven Cemetery, West Des Moines, Iowa.

In 1987, Marty returned to Clear Lake and worked until his health failed. He was
a former member of the VFW, Clear Lake. Marty loved the outdoors, camping and
walking in the woods with his dog, Cinchy.

Marty is survived by his mother, Joan Olson, Clear Lake; three sisters, Peggy
Olson, Clear Lake; Lori Copley and her husband, Herb, Clear Lake; Julie Budd,
Clear Lake; nieces and nephews, Mike and Ryan Roberts; Jaime and Kerri Copley;
Nikki, Ashley and Dan Budd; and Spencer Olson; several aunts, uncles, cousins
and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Dale, in 1999; and a brother,
Rick, in 1987.
