Marie Brower, 76, of 7 N. Main, Ventura, Iowa died Saturday, Feb. 11, 2006 at
the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City, Iowa. Memorial services were
held Monday, Feb. 13, at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, with
Mark Doebel officiating. Family suggests memorials to Ida Marie Brower memorial
fund.
Ida Marie Brower was born at home in Hutchins, Iowa to Edward and Florence Dora
(Keller) Klaassen on March 17, 1929.
In her younger years she worked for the Clear Lake Bakery and the Muskie
Lounge. She enjoyed many years of bowling, cross stitching, reading, flower
gardening, playing cards and going to coffee in the afternoons at the Colony Inn
with her friends.
She married William C. (Bill) Brower on Feb. 4, 1950, at the Little Brown
Church in Nashua, Iowa.
Marie will be greatly missed by her husband, Bill, Ventura; son, Steve (Cathy)
Brower, Clear Lake; daughter, Sue (Harry) Hakes, Clear Lake; daughter, Sandy
(Roger) Baker, Sheffield, Iowa; and daughter, Shari Haugen, Clear Lake. Marie
is also survived by her grandkids, Andrew, Alex, and Anthony Brower of Clear
Lake; Mike (Stephanie) Hakes of Swanville, Minn.; Tom (Shauna) Hakes of Fertile,
Iowa and Shana Haugen of Clear Lake and two great-granddaughters, MacKenzie and
Alexis Hakes of Fertile. She is also survived by two sisters, Lora Proctor,
Clear Lake, and Loretta Lande, Northwood, Iowa; along with sisters-in-law,
Betty Dorenkamp, Minnesota and Marlys Hutzell, Pisgah, Iowa and a
brother-in-law, Daniel Spilman, Clear Lake.
She was preceded in death by her parents and in-laws, John Proctor, Ardean
Lande, John and Anna Isebrand, Layton and Hylene Nonnweiler, Hank and Evelyn
Brower, Howard Hutzell, Cortland Dorenkamp and Phyllis Spilman.
