Joseph G. Johnson, 87, of 900 Main Ave., Clear Lake, died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2001
at the Mercy Medical Center North Iowa, Mason City, Iowa. Services will be
Thursday, Dec. 20, 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake, with the Rev.
Dean Hess officiating. Graveside services will be Friday, Dec. 21, 1 p.m. at
Ihlen Cemetery, Ihlen, Minn. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at the
Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, and then one hour before the service
on Thursday at the church. Family suggests memorials to Zion Lutheran Church or
memorials of your choice.

Joseph was born April 28, 1914 in Garden City, Iowa, the son of John E. and
Helen (Larson) Johnson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Bergen Lutheran
Church, Roland, Iowa. Following school he served in the United Sates Army
during WWII.

He worked in Chicago, then moved to Roland where he worked for Great Lakes
Pipeline and later transferred to Clear Lake. He then worked for Clear Lake
Parks and Recreation Department for ten years, retiring in 1978.

Joseph enjoyed working on model trains, doing jigsaw puzzles, reading, fishing
and gardening. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake, Clear
Lake V.F.W., and was a lifetime member of D.A.V.

Joseph is survived by his wife, Christine Johnson, Clear Lake; two children,
Sandra Millard and her husband, Gerald, Milwaukee, Wis. and Lisa Hansmeier and
her husband, Doug, Maple Grove, Minn.; four grandchildren, Ryan Millard, Eric
Millard, Abby Hansmeier and John Hansmeier; one brother-in-law; three
sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.

His parents; five sisters; and four brothers preceded him in death.
