Mark Steven Monson, 52, 14957 Maple St., Clear Lake, died Sunday, Dec. 19, 2004
at his home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 23, 11 a.m., at Zion
Lutheran Church, 112 N. 4th St., Clear Lake, with the Rev. Dean Hess
officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5 - 7 p.m. at Ward-Van
Slyke Colonial Chapel. Interment will be held at Clear Lake Cemetery. Memorials
may be given to the Mark Monson Memorial Fund.

Mark was born March 27, 1952, in Mason City, Iowa, the son of Alfred and Evelyn
(Welsh) Monson. He graduated from Ventura High School in 1970 and attended
Hamilton Business College. Mark married Marcia Gardalen on September 10, 1971
at Zion Lutheran Church in Clear Lake. Twin daughters Cristina and Cortney
were born May 17, 1991. Mark battled several illnesses throughout his life.
His strengths and courage grew through his fight, bringing much love and
understanding to his family and friends.
Mark's hobbies included golfing, bow hunting, picking up "nicks" with his
daughters and just being outdoors. Mark was a member of Zion Lutheran Church
and a member of the All Vet's Golf Course in Clear Lake.

Mark is survived by his wife, Marcia Monson and two daughters, Cristina and
Cortney, Clear Lake; four brothers, Arlen "Peep" Monson and his wife, Jan,
Charles City, Iowa, Dean Monson and his wife, Pat, Clear Lake, Alan Monson and
his wife, Donna, Clear Lake, and Mike Monson and his wife, Karen, Altoona,
Iowa; four sisters, Bonnie Holmgaard, Rockford, Ill, Rita Lee, Clear Lake,
Shirley Knapp and her husband, Jim, Iowa City, Iowa and Gloria Kline and her
husband, Mike, Bettendorf, Iowa; many nieces and nephews, cousins and many
special friends including the staff, patients and families at Mercy Dialysis
Center.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Gene.
