Cheryl L. Hanson, 70, of 1004 5th Ave. S., Clear Lake, passed away Wednesday,
Dec. 20, 2006 at the Oakwood Care Center, Clear Lake. Memorial services will be
held at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 27, at Zion Lutheran Church, 112 N. 4th St,
Clear Lake with the Rev. Dean Hess officiating. Private Inurnment will be at
the Clear Lake Cemetery. Visiting with family will be one hour prior to the
service. Memorials may be made to the Clear Lake Public Library Foundation in
Cheryl's name.
Cheryl was born March 10, 1936, the daughter of Julius T. "Ted" & Marie (Benz)
Willadsen in New Hampton, Iowa. Cheryl graduated from New Hampton High School in
1954. She attended and graduated from A.I.B. Institute in Des Moines, Iowa. She
moved to Mason City to work. There she met her husband, David, and was married.
She later worked in the office of a contractor in Clear Lake, the office of
Doctors Larson and Powell and later for Mason City Clinic until she retired in
2001. Cheryl also worked part-time for the Clear Lake Library after her
retirement. She was a board member of Clear Lake Library and North Central
Regional Library. Cheryl enjoyed knitting, reading, genealogy, playing computer
games, WWII and Western movies on DVD. Cheryl was a member of the Clear Lake
Zion Lutheran Church.
Cheryl is survived by her three children, Mark and Keith Hanson of Clear Lake
and Julie Hanson of Ames, Iowa; several nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Lou
Willadsen, Merritt Island, Fla., Betty Blick, Sultan, Wash., Jo Ellen Carpenter,
Clear Lake, Joyce Stille, Swaledale, Iowa and Bonnie Hanson, Clarksville, Ga.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents; husband, David; two brothers,
Roger and Lorne Willadsen; and sister-in-law, Joyce Willadsen.
Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
