Clifford R. Mott, 89, of Mason City, died Thursday, Dec. 24, 1998 of a
lengthy illness at the Heritage Care Center.

Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 28, at St. Joseph Catholic
Church, Mason City, with the Rev. Michael Schueller officiating. Burial was in
Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to the Clifford R. Mott Memorial Fund or to
the Mason City Senior Center in his memory.

Clifford R. Mott was born May 9, 1909 in Mason City at the address which
he lived all his life, 686 8th Street SE, the son of Leonard W. and Ann (Iler)
Mott. He attended Mason City Public Schools and began work at the Peoples Gas
and Electric Company (later Interstate Power) in 1929. He was employed there
until 1974, a total of 45 years in the gas and service department.

He was married to Cecelia Krapp on June 20, 1935 at St. Joseph’s
Catholic Church, Mason City.

Clifford was a charter member of the local International Brotherhood of
Electrical Workers Union, #432. He also belonged to the Mason City Senior
Center, the Hawkeye Camera Club, the American Association of Retired People,
the Interstate Power Quarter Century Club, the Retired Breakfast Club, the
North Iowa Golden Wedding Club and was also a longtime member of the North
Iowa Men’s Garden Club and the Chamber of Commerce Senior Men’s Club. He was
the Boy Scout Leader of the Explorer Troop for many years.

Clifford was also well known for raising vegetables, especially sweet
corn, for many years, and his hobbies included fishing, traveling, taking
pictures and playing cards.

He is survived by his wife, Cecelia Mott, Mason City; one daughter,
Marcele Kaduce and her husband, Carroll, Mason City; four sons, Kenneth R.
Mott, Dubuque, Douglas C. Mott, Dubuque, Roger E. Mott, Waterloo, Bryan A.
Mott, Mason City; 11 grandchildren, Dr. Kevin Mott, Columbia, Mo., Mrs. Scott
(Kenia) Riddle, Mundelein, Ill., Mrs. John (Julie) Ely, Cedar Rapids, Michael
Mott, Council Bluffs, Randy Mott, Dubuque, Kristin Mott, Dubuque, Paige Mott,
Betendorf, Whitney Mott, Vail, Colo., Mrs.Dave (Jill) Weetman, Solon, Christopher
Kaduce, Marion, Jason Mott, Mason City; 12 great-grandchildren; one sister,
Mrs. Gregory (Harriett) Wolfe, Tucson, Ariz.; one step-sister, Juanita Stephen,
Marion; one step-brother, Lloyd Wilson, Kallispell, Montana; one sister-in-law,
Ronelda Mott, Mason City; and one foster brother, Keith Arkeney, Torrance, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Irene Holt; one
brother, Vern Mott; two half-brothers, Merle and Berie Brown; one foster
brother, Clifford Mitchell; step-mother, Ida Mott; and two step-sisters.
