Lois Marcille Petersen, 80, died Saturday, Dec. 19, 1998 at her home in Clear
Lake, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held today (Wednesday), Dec. 23, at 1:30 p.m. at Zion
Lutheran Church, 112 N. 4th St., Clear Lake. Officiating the service will be
Rev. Kermit Roisen. Inurnment will be at the Clear Lake Cemetery at a later
date. Memorials may be made in her name.

Lois was born March 9, 1918 in the Mason City, Iowa area, the daughter of Carl
and Mable Agnes (Nielsen) Peterson. She first attended Mason City schools and
graduated from Garner High School in 1936. Lois married Horace Petersen, Feb.
9, 1938 in Mason City, Iowa. They farmed north of Clear Lake until moving into
town in 1987. Lois was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake.

Lois enjoyed getting together with her family and friends. Among her many
interests were crocheting, knitting, reading, gardening and canning, doing
crossword puzzles in the paper, playing cards and baking lots of cookies and
bread. Special times and memories were made at the Surf. Horace always said
she never lost an argument.

She is survived by her husband, Horace Petersen, Clear Lake; five children,
Peggy Christensen and her husband, Dick, Daytona Beach, Fla., Pat DeBerg and
her husband, Newt, Iowa Falls, Iowa, Bob Petersen, Des Moines, Iowa, Joan Nash
and her husband, Jim, Antelope, Calif., and Doug Petersen and his wife,
Jackie, Rockwell, Iowa; three sisters Leona Greiman, Garner, Iowa, Vera
Osslund, Mason City, and Phyllis Coyier and her husband, Jim, Albertville,
Minn.; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Johnny and Carl
LuVerne Peterson; and one sister, Arlene Peterson; one sister-in-law, Phyllis
Peterson; two brother-in-laws, Ron Greiman and Lee Osslund.
