Dorothy Louise Hoit, 89, of Clear Lake, Iowa, formerly of
Columbus, Neb., died Saturday, Dec. 12, 1998, at the Manly Nursing & Rehab
Center, in Manly, Iowa.

Graveside services were held Monday, Dec. 14, at the Clear Lake
Cemetery, with the Rev. Fred Lewis of the United Methodist Church in Clear
Lake officiating.

The family of Dorothy Louise Hoit has requested that memorial
contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation in her memory.

Dorothy Louise Hoit was born on Sept. 23, 1909, in southern Iowa,
and was raised in Clear Lake. Dorothy was adopted an an early age by Jesse
Cooper and Anna (Lottie) Davenport and was blessed with a large number of
brothers and sisters.

She was united in marriage to Roy Vernon Hoit on Jan. 4, 1930, in
Clear Lake. He preceded her in death on April 26, 1978.

She was raised a Methodist, and was a member of the Zion Lutheran
Church in Clear Lake.

She is survived by a daughter, Anna Craig and her husband, Rikk of
Dunnellon, Fla.; a son, Ronald Hoit and his wife, Doris, of Mason City, Iowa;
seven grandchildren, Susan, Linda, Ellen, David, JoAnn, Tom, and Robert; a
number of great-grandchildren and a couple of great-great-grandchildren; one
sister, Virginia Sanford of Aurora, Colo.; as well as other relatives and
friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers and sisters.
