John Joe Scott, 63, of 116 4th Ave. N., Clear Lake, died Thursday, Dec. 17,
2009 at his home.

Memorial services were held Monday, Dec. 21, at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial
Chapel, Clear Lake with the Rev. Dennis Ganz officiating. Inurnment will be in
Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City at a later time. Family suggests memorials to
the Joe Scott Memorial Fund.

Joe was born Dec. 22, 1945 in Mason City, Iowa, the son of Richard Rowell
and Virginia Laughlin Scott. He graduated from Clear Lake High School in
1964.

Joe and Barbara Marxen were united in marriage on Sept. 15, 1983 in Las
Vegas, Nev.

Joe worked for Easter’s Super Valu in Clear Lake. He later worked for North
Iowa Community Action as director of youth employment in Kossuth, Winnebago,
Franklin, Cerro Gordo, Butler, Floyd and Mitchell counties and then worked for
Larson’s manufacturing in Clear Lake in quality control.

Joe enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s events and was an avid Hawkeye
fan. He also enjoyed camping, gardening, visiting with his friends at the Clear
Lake V.F.W., old cars and watching NASCAR. He was a former member of Clear Lake
Volunteer Fire Dept.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Scott, Clear Lake; three children, Tony
(Cindy) Scott, Mason City, Stacey Lester, Clear Lake, and Jason Scott,
California; son-in-law, Dale Boss, Clear Lake; brother, Pat (Regina) Scott, Des
Moines, Iowa; six grandchildren, Rachel Church, Clear Lake, Scott Church,
Forest City, Iowa, Nicole Boss, Miller, Iowa, Paige Scott, Mason City, Peyton
Scott, Mason City, and Zachary Lester, Clear Lake.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert “Dick” Scott;
daughter, Keely Boss; and son, Stephen Scott.
