Gerald Emerson Curphy, 95, of Mason City, died Sunday, Aug. 6, 1995 at
I.O.O.F. Home, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held today (Wednesday), Aug. 9, at the Ward Van
Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. 4th St., Clear Lake, with the Pastor Charles
Williams of the Clear Lake Congregational Church officiating. Burial will be
in Clear Lake Cemetery.

Gerald was born Jan. 5, 1900, in Montour, Iowa, the son of
Walter W. Curphy and Florence Luella (nee) Curtis. On Dec. 27, 1919, he
married Myrtle Roberts in Des Moines.

Gerald grew up in Montour and graduated from Montour High School and
attended Capitol City Community College. He worked at the Des Moines National
Bank and Peoples Savings Bank, Des Moines. Gerald owned and operated Curphy
Auto Supply in Clear Lake for 50 years until retiring and moving to Arkansas
with his wife and Joe Grady. They ed to Clear Lake and he sold Mason Shoes
until 1984 when he moved into the I.O.O.F. Home in Mason City.

He was a member of the Clear Lake Congregational Church, a 65 member of
the I.O.O.F. Lodge, a 60 year member of the Masons, and a 50 year member of
the Eastern Star.

He is survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two brothers; and two
sisters.
