JEANNETTE CASPERS
SWALEDALE — Jeannette Caspers, 71, of Swaledale, passed away Saturday (Aug. 14, 2004) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Thornton with the Rev. Robert Hetrick presiding. Interment will be at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Swaledale.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Retz-Grarup Funeral Home in Thornton. Memorials may be directed to St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Jeannette Louise (Ashland) Caspers was born Sept. 19, 1932, on a farm near Clear Lake, to Ole and Florence (Paulson) Ashland. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Clear Lake.
Jeannette graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1950 then worked at Ben Franklin in Clear Lake.
On Feb. 14, 1954, Jeannette was united in marriage with Dale Caspers. They farmed at Swaledale their entire married life. This year they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
Those who knew Jeannette will remember her for all the good things she did for her church, her family, her friends and all others whose lives she touched.
Survivors include her husband, Dale; children, Jon (Carol) Caspers, Swaledale, Mary Caspers, Kanawha, Bill (Deb) Caspers, Swaledale, and Lori Caspers, Mason City; grandchildren, Sarah (Michael) Servantez, Joni, Billy, David, and Brian; great grandson, Drew Servantez; sister, Elaine (Jim) Olson, Garner; brother, Bob (Betty) Ashland, Sequim, Wash.; step-sisters, Madilyn Norton, and Marilyn (Linn) Laage; step-brother, Richard (Barbara) Benham; brother-in-law, Orville (Bernice) Caspers; many cousins, nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Jeannette is preceded in death by her parents; step-mother, Marie Ashland; brother-in-law, Bill Wreghitt; niece, Kim Lewis; and nephew, Jack Caspers.
