Robert Lee Nutting, 72, of 1511 N. 23rd St, Clear Lake, passed away Sunday, Feb. 29, 2004, at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 3, at the First Christian Church, 318 N. Adams, Mason City with the Rev. William Kanne officiating. Interment will be at the Clear Lake Cemetery. Military Honors will be by the Clear Lake V.F.W. Family suggests memorials to Robert L. Nutting memorial fund.
Robert was born the son of Rolland and Dee (Peterson) Nutting in Vichy, Mo. He graduated from Mason City High School in 1949 and then from Mason City Jr. College. While in high school and college he was an accomplished athlete.
Following school he entered the service and served in the US Navy during the Korean War on a submarine as a machinist. He married Patricia O'Neil in Mason City.
Bob moved back to Mason City following the service and started his career serving in many capacities for Armour including plant manager and superintendent in various plants. He retired in 1993. Bob also worked part-time for Snell's Ambulance and as a mechanic for Snell's for 20 years.
Bob married Norma (Huntley) Boehnke Aug. 7, 1992 in Mason City. He enjoyed gardening, golfing, fishing, going to races, being a fan of the Hawkeyes and Vikings and he especially enjoyed his poodles. Bob was a very devoted husband and family man
He was a member of First Christian Church, Mason City and the Clear Lake V.F.W.
Bob will be sadly missed by his wife, Norma, Clear Lake; granddaughter, Elizabeth Fischbeck, Mason City; children, Marilyn Tecklenburg and her husband, Jeff, Muscatine, Iowa, and Jim Boehnke and his wife, Renee', Clear Lake; son-in-law, John Fischbeck and his wife, Donna, Mason City; nine grandchildren, April Schmitz and her husband, Dale, Jennifer Tecklenburg, Matthew Tecklenburg and his wife, Mandy, Emily Tecklenburg, Brooke Ewing, Evan Tecklenburg, Kelsey Boehnke and Andrew Boehnke; four great-grandchildren and his aunt, Martha Nutting, Mason City.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Patricia; daughter, Rhonda Fischbeck; son, David Nutting and sister, Alene Estep.
Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
