GRACE V. ANDERSON
CLEAR LAKE - Grace V. Anderson, 95, of Mason City, formerly of Clear Lake, died Wednesday (July 11, 2001) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa.
Her Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church, 112 N. Fourth St. in Clear Lake, with the Rev. Jonathan Swenson officiating. Inurnment will take place at Clear Lake Cemetery at a later date.
According to Grace's wishes, her body was cremated, and there will be no visitation.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Central Gardens of North Iowa, P.O. Box 70, Clear Lake, Iowa, 50428 or to Zion Lutheran Church of Clear Lake.
Grace V. Anderson was born on Feb. 11, 1906, at Osseo, Wis., the daughter of Martin Julius and Anna Marie (Larsen) Anderson.
Grace graduated from high school, and went on to further her education by graduating from the University of Minnesota. She spent her lifetime involved in education. From 1926 until 1938, Grace was an elementary educator in the Clear Lake public school system, and from 1938 to 1972, she was the principal of Central Elementary School in Clear Lake.
Throughout her career, Grace was awarded with many honors including Clear Lake Schools Teacher of the Year in 1956, Honorary Citizen of Clear Lake in 1950, and Honorary 4th of July Mayor in the 1970s.
She was an active member at Zion Lutheran Church in Clear Lake, where she participated in the choir, was a Bible school teacher, took part in the quilting group, and was a member of WELCA. Grace also enjoyed playing bridge.
Grace is survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother; and eight sisters.
