Ralph K. Peterson, 81, 286 Willowbrook Drive, died Tuesday, March 23, 1993, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit.

Funeral services were held March 25th at Wesley United Methodist Church, with the Rev. David Shogren officiating. Burial was in the Clear Lake Cemetery.

Mr. Peterson was born September 8, 1911, in Mason City, the son of John P. and Grace M. (Birkbeck) Peterson. He attended the Lime Creek and McKinley schools, graduating from Mason City High School in 1929.

He was married to Gertrude Winchell June 6, 1937, in Mason City. He was employed by Thompson O'Neill Grocery Store, Deckers Packing Plant, Ben Nelson Auto Body Shop and then served as President of Peterson Lane Auto Body, retiring in 1977.

He was very family oriented and civic minded. He served on the Board of Directors of the Pioneer Museum and Historical Society of North Iowa for 22 years. He was treasurer and then director the past 11 years. His many hobbies included making square nail sculptures, restoring antique cars and photography. He was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church and the NIVA Car Club.

Survivors include his wife, Gertrude Peterson, Mason City; two sons, Jon R. (JoAnne) Peterson, Mason City, and Robert K. (Jeannine) Peterson, St. Ansgar; one daughter, Patricia A. (Scott) Lavold, Brooklyn Park, MN; six grandchildren, Christine and Julie Peterson, Ara and Arik Peterson, and Laura and Kari Lavold; and one sister, Doris (William) Schyberg, Duluth, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Robert.
