March 18, 2012Anna M. HILL, 86, 20 N. 4th St., Clear Lake, died Saturday, March 17, 2012 at her son's home in Waukee, Iowa.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 21, at the Clear Lake United Methodist Church with the Rev. Rhoda Preston officiating. Interment will be at the Clear Lake Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Anna M. Hill Memorial Fund.
Ann was born Aug. 1, 1925 in Clear Lake, the daughter of Nels Chris and Amelia (SORENSEN) ANDERSEN. She attended Clear Lake Schools. Ann was united in marriage to Donald D. HILL and had one son, Steve, of Waukee. She worked for Chappell Clinic and Dr. R. O. GROSS in Clear Lake for 27 years, retiring in 1981. She moved to Abilene, Texas in 1981 with her husband and returned to Clear Lake after his death in 1991.
Ann enjoyed her life in Clear Lake through her family, extended family and friends. She enjoyed her monthly gatherings for Birthday Club, Investment Club and frequent lunches and get togethers with her Chappell Clinic ladies. She loved reading. She enjoyed spending time with her best friend and sister-in-law, Joanne SNYDER; they were inseparable.
Ann is survived by her son, Steve HILL and his wife, Deb, Waukee; in-laws, Joanne and Dean SNYDER and Jack and Renate HILL, Clear Lake; and many nieces and nephews.
Ann spent her last weeks living with her son and his wife in Waukee. A special thank you to Iowa Hospice for their compassion, care and assistance since March of 2011.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald D. HILL (December 1991), sisters, Viola (Vi) STOKES, Ruby SHAY, Emma PETERSEN; and brother, Chris (Gunner) ANDERSEN.
