Wednesday, November 28, 2007Dennis Lynn HALL, 63, of 11619 Burt St. Omaha, Neb., died Friday (Nov. 16, 2007) at the Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, 2007, at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 100 First St. N.E., Mason City, with the Rev. Patti AURAND officiating.
Dennis was born May 23, 1944, in Mason City, Iowa, the son of Michael and Loraine (KIRK) HALL. He spent his childhood in Lake Mills and graduated in 1962.
He married Bonnie BERG on July 15, 1967, and had two children, Jeffrey and Jesslyn. Dennis began his railroad career working for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad in Mason City.
On Dec. 1, 1991, Dennis married Linda COOPER in Hawaii. Dennis' position with the railroad required them to transfer to Ames, Chicago and finally Omaha, where he retired from the Union Pacific Railroad in 1999 after 34 years of service.
Dennis was an avid sports fan and enjoyed participating in softball, bowling and especially golf. He loved spending time on Clear Lake boating and just being near the water. Cars were a passion for Dennis and he often could be found in his garage (sanctuary) tinkering with anything that had a motor.
Dennis loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren and was very proud of them all. The last few years, Dennis and Linda spent their winters in Arizona where Dennis could pursue his golfing year round. He enjoyed a good steak, political conversations, a good laugh, and will be remembered for his great sense of humor and mild nature.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Linda, of Omaha, Neb.; son Jeffrey and wife, Melissa (KAVARS) HALL, of Jacksonville, Fla.; daughter Jesslyn HALL of Scottsdale, Ariz.; grandchildren, Joshua and Sophie HALL, Emanuelle HALL; sister, Barbara HALL of Fairmont, Minn.; sister-in-law, Judy HALL of Albert Lea, Minn.; family friend, Judy LOHRENZ of Fairmont, Minn.; and many additional relatives and friends.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents and brother David, and his father-in-law and mother-in-law.
