Ruth Louise JUHL, 85, formerly of Clear Lake, died Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Home, Algona, Iowa. A funeral service was held on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at Zion Lutheran Church, 112 N. 4th St., Clear Lake, with Rev. Dean HESS officiating. Interment was at Memorial Park Cemetery, Highway 122 W., Mason City, Iowa.

Memorials may be given to the Ruth L. JUHL Memorial Fund.

Ruth was born March 8, 1927 in Whitten, Iowa, the daughter of Claude and Neva (VINTON) WINTERS. She graduated in 1945 from Owasa High School, Owasa, Iowa. Ruth went to beauty school at Burlington Beauty School. She worked at Pastel Beauty Salon in Clear Lake.

Ruth married Art JUHL June 8, 1947 at Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake. She worked for Nadine's Beauty Salon, the Fashion Shop, the Peacock Shop and Hansen's for 16 years before retiring in 2003.

Ruth's love of her life was her husband, Art. They enjoyed dancing and going south for the winters. She also enjoyed shopping, visiting with her friends and especially spending time with her family. She was a member of the Clear Lake V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary, Peace Circle at Zion Lutheran Church, Rebekah Lodge, and Zion Lutheran Church.

Ruth is survived by two daughters, Claudia MICHAELIS and her husband, Steve, New Richmond, Wis. and Connie VITZTHUM and her husband, Frank, Algona; three grandchildren, Melinda VITZTHUM (Steve STANKEY), Mason City, Michelle (Doug) COOK, Algona and Matthew VITZTHUM (Alyssa HEINE), Springfield, Ohio; two great grandchildren, Audi Rae and Briton; sister, Shirley (Elvin) RUDDICK, Marshalltown, Iowa and sister-in-law, Carol Sue HOLLIS, Missouri; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Art JUHL, (Dec. 25, 2003); and one brother, Ronald WINTERS.

Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
