Obituary - Blanch A. (Dernek) Finch

After a prolonged illness spreading over many months, and even years if we would go back to its beginning, Mrs. Ira FINCH passed away Tuesday evening, September 3 [1929], about nine o'clock.

Her suffering at times has been so intense that it has been the wonder of those who have witnessed how the frail body could possibly endure it longer. Her patience and fortitude and hope manifested almost to the last that she would get well deeply impressed all who entered her sick room.

She had one fond hope realized last spring when Mr. FINCH carried her to the school auditorium that she might see her son, Blanchard graduate from high school.

For several months Mr. FINCH'S mother with the assistance of Mr. FINCH and Blanchard, has been tenderly caring for her.

Blanch A. DERNEK was born March 5th, 1889 on a farm in Worth County, where she lived until her marriage to Ira FINCH November 18th, 1907. After their marriage, they made their home at Kensett and Northwood, coming to Plymouth in 1914, which has since been their home.

She is survived by her husband and son Blanchard, and by her father, Charlie DERNEK and three brothers, namely Sylvan, Albin, and Delphine, all living in Worth County. Mrs. FINCH was a member of the M. E. Church, and of the local Rebekah Lodge, also of the Royal Neighbors.

Funeral services conducted by Rev. GALBRETH were held Thursday, September 5th, with a brief prayer service at the home at 1:30 p.m. and services at the M. E. Church at 2 p.m. The ladies quartette composed of Mesdames Geo. CHESBRO, Heironimus _____, Fay COOPER and Chas. ANDERSON accompanied by Mrs. LAMSON, brought comforting messages in song. Burial was in the Oakwood Cemetery at Plymouth.

The pall bearers were selected from the Royal Neighbor and Rebekah lodges, namely: Messrs Ray BYINGTON, Ed REZAB, Walter PHILLIPS, Gilbert PESHAK, Orrin PESHAK and Ren SNELL.
