J. CLAUS DIES AT PLYMOUTH

Funeral Rites Monday for Retired Farmer
Jacob CLAUS, 83, a farmer in the Plymouth Community since he came to this country from his native Germany in 1882, died Thursday evening at his home in Plymouth.

The body will lie in state at the Meyer funeral home in Mason City until Monday morning when it will be taken to the family home in Plymouth until time for the services. The funeral will be held at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon at the Methodist church in Plymouth with the Rev. L. S. SARCHETT officiating. Burial will be in Plymouth [Oakwood Cemetery].

Mr. CLAUS made his home with an uncle, Valentine CLAUS, for the first several years he was in the country. He was married to Bertha Emelio WITT of Rock Creek in 1890 who preceded him in death in 1910. He farmed until his retirement in 1923 when he moved to Plymouth.

He is survived by a son, Herbert William CLAUS, who lives on the parental farm, 2 miles south of Plymouth; 3 daughters, Mrs. E. O. JACOBSON, Lee, Ill,; Miss Carrie Elizabeth CLAUS, Plymouth, and Miss Esther Luella CLAUS, Webster Grove, Mo., and 4 grandchildren, Miss Margaret JACOBSON, DeKalb, Ill., and Pauline, Carl and Ernest CLAUS, Plymouth. A sister, Margaret WELKER, also survives.

HERE and THERE

PLYMOUTH - Miss Martha WITT, who spent the winter with her niece in Illinois, came for the funeral of her brother-in-law, Jacob CLAUS, and will remain here.
