Teacher at Plymouth dies; Rites Monday

PLYMOUTH - Miss Esther L. CLAUS, 50, a teacher at Plymouth School, died at a Mason City hospital Friday after an illness of three weeks. Funeral services will be Monday at 2 p.m. in the Plymouth Methodist Church. The Rev. Charles BIRCHMIER officiated. Burial will be in Plymouth [Oakwood] Cemetery. Bride's Funeral Home, Manly, is in charge.

Born Nov. 17, 1899, at Plymouth, she was the daughter of Bertha and Jacob CLAUS. She was graduated from Plymouth High School and from Upper Iowa University, Fayette. She taught in public schools and at the Epworth School for Girls, Webster Grove, Mo. For the 15 years she had taught junior high school at Plymouth.

Surviving are a brother, Herbert W., Plymouth; two sisters, Mrs. Emery (Martha) JACOBSON, DeKalb, Ill., and Miss Carrie CLAUSS, with whom she lived in Plymouth. Miss CLAUS was the financial secretary of the Plymouth Methodist Church and a member of the Women's Society of Christian Service.
