Dennis L. CIAVARELLI, 69, of St. Ansgar died Sunday, July 5, 2009, at Mitchell County Regional Health Center, Osage, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 9, at First Lutheran Church, St. Ansgar, with the Rev. Robert PORISCH officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Plymouth, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, 207 S. School St., St. Ansgar.

Dennis Lee CIAVARELLI was born the son of Vito and Martha (FORRY) CIAVARELLI, on June 1, 1940, in Clarksville.

Dennis worked at OLIVER/WHITE Farm in Charles City in the foundry for 28 years. After his retirement, he started an auto body repair business and worked "seasonally" for L.R. FALK.

He loved the outdoors, fishing, trapshooting, hunting and gardening. He also enjoyed the Hill, classic cars, family meals and morning coffee. Animals loved him as much as he loved them. Perhaps his greatest love was spending time with his family and his best friend, Dakota. Dennis will be remembered as being generous and thoughtful, welcoming and genuine, simple, serious but goofy, too. He was a man of few words, a do-er, a jack of all trades. He knew something about everything. He was a role model to many and a wonderful father, and he lived each day to the fullest.

Dennis is preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Carmen, Virgene, Errol and Joseph; his son, Anthony; his nephew, Brandon; and his uncle, Bob.

He is survived by his closest companion, Dakota; and also by his wife, Donna; his oldest daughter, Denise, her husband Scott and their children, Stevie, Rycki, Leah and Danelle, Danelle's husband Erik and their children, Christian and Isabella; his second daughter, Diana and her sons, Efram and Oliver; his third daughter, Dawn and her husband Terry and their daughter, Chelsea; and his youngest daughter, Dana, her husband Jake and their children, Brooklyn, Thomis and Carlie. He is also survived by sisters, Charlotte, Patsy, JoAnn and Cheryl; his brother, Tony; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, St. Ansgar, is in charge of arrangments.
