SERVICES HELD FOR C. MURRAY

Pastor Speaks of Sorrow at Christmas

Funeral services for C. C. MURRAY, 66, who died Tuesday morning at his home, 1021 Second street southwest, following more than a year of illness, were held Thursday afternoon in the Major Memorial chapel, with Doctor Marvin B. KOBER, pastor of the First Methodist church, in charge.

"Charles MURRAY, who has walked among us for the past quarter of a century or more, elicits no uncertain word as we share this memorial service," said Mr. KOBER, "Quiet and unassuming, devoted to his daily duties in the company that employed him, he had a love for his fellowman that was more than shallow sentiment."

"His deep interest and active leadership in the Social Welfare league are evidences of that spirit of benevolence. The high esteem in which he was held by his friends, the respect of his fellow workers, and the devotion of his family are additional tokens of that fine humanity which is akin to Divinity.

"It matters little that one's ideas of God differ widely or that we seek to express our hightes ideals and aspirations through one denomination or another, always in times of crisis we turn to the most satisfying symbol that we know. That is one othat expresses the most of our highest values.

"This is Christmas and the Advent season. Ordinarily we associate it with festivity, but its real meaning lies beneath that sentiment. The real meaning is found in the word Immanual, meaning God with us, and so even in our sorrow we are not alone."

Mrs. Roy SERVISON played obsequial music on the organ.

Pallbearers were H. C. BROWN, C. E. SIPPEL, W. H. PATTERSON, H. E. WOLF, A. C. CLUCK and W. E. HALL. Burial was at Elmwood cemetery. The Major funeral home in charge.
