MASON CITY - William C. DODD, 73, of 841 Eighth St. SW, Mason City, died Friday night (Jan. 8, 2010) at Good Shepherd Health Center in Mason City.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 11, 2010, at Fullerton Funeral Home, 123 Second St. SE, Mason City. Officiating will be the Rev. Father Michael SCHUELLER of Holy Family Catholic Church. Inurnment will be held at noon on June 18, 2010, at Park Cemetery, Nora Springs.

The family will greet friends one hour prior to services.

On Aug. 3, 1936, William Clifford DODD entered this world becoming the son of Virgil Wilmer and Thelma Herma (BACHMAN) DODD and joining a full family of six siblings. He graduated from Rockfalls High School in 1954. After living there, he moved to a farm at Nora Springs then to Anaheim, Calif., for two years, returning to Mason City in 1957. While in California he worked for the highway commission and when returning to Iowa he was an inspector for the Iowa Highway Commission. For the last 34 years he worked for WHKS engineering and consulting firm as a senior draftsman, retiring in 2002.

William and Mary Ann DiLALLO were united in marriage at the Methodist Church in Cresco, on Dec. 5, 1964. Together they raised five children. Bill loved to fish, especially at the cabins of his brothers at Pelican Lake in Minnesota. He was a great tinkerer and played golf and tennis. He was a jovial person and loved to tease and joke with his wife and family. He was very caring about his family and was an awesome grandpa.

Those left to mourn Bill's passing are his wife of 45 years, Mary Ann; their five children, Debra and her husband, Jack DeMARIS, Kensett, William II and his wife, Karen DODD, Crestview, Fla., Darold and his wife, Hollie DODD, Klemme, Kevin and his wife, Lisa DODD, Zion, Ill., and Dawn and her husband, Derek PRESTHOLT, Mason City; fifteen grandchildren: Nina, Travis, Mandy, Joel, Brandon, Mikayla, Miranda, Dakota, Konner, Ellah, Derek (DJ), Devon, Drew, Delanie, and Dylan; two great-grandsons, Ryan and Aaron; his siblings, Sharon (Larry) CROSS, Nora Springs, Larry (Arlene) DODD, Waterloo, Jerry J. DODD, Romeoville, Ill., Dennis (June) DODD, Clear Lake, David DODD, Mason City; and a sister-in-law, Marlys DODD, Stewartville, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews.

His parents; and one brother, Delbert DODD, preceded him in death.
