MASON CITY - Norman G. DeYOUNG, 74 of 2028 S. Taft, died Saturday afternoon, Dec. 25, 2010, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 29, at Fullerton Funeral Home, 123 Second St. S.E., Mason City. Officiating will be the Rev. Keith SCOTT. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery.

Norman Gene was born on March 25, 1936, in Storm Lake, the son of Burte and Lillian (BLOMBERG) DeYOUNG. He graduated from Ware High School in Ware, Iowa. Norman was married to Gloria PLANTZ on March 22, 1958. During his early years he worked for the county at Plover, Iowa. He then owned and operated the Red Rooster Lounge in Britt for three years. Later he worked road construction in Wyoming, Iowa and Saudi Arabia and retired from the street department in Torrington, Wyoming.

Three years ago he moved to Mason City to be close to his daughter Terri Sue. Norman was a huge Broncos fan and was a season ticketholder for 25 years, along with being a Hawkeye fan.

He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose. Norman had over 300,000 miles on his PT Cruiser because he never let the wheels stop turning as he toured everywhere he lived.

While in Wyoming he loved having the grandchildren visit so they could go fishing and driving in the mountains. He hunted elk while in Wyoming and collected coins as a pastime. He could be strong-willed on the outside but had a soft side and was very sociable, caring and giving.

Survivors include his daughter Terri Sue BAGLEY-LOWE and her husband Mike, Mason City, grandchildren Candi (Casey) PATRAS and their twin children Kaylor and Kennadie, of Urbandale; Eric BAGLEY and his girlfriend Christy HILLMAN, Ames; Jeff D. (Sherri) DOLPHIN and their child Dustin SHULTZ, Britt; Kim K. and (Mark) DOLPHIN and daughter Alexa, Britt; a son-in-law Ed DeWALL, Britt; two brothers Jay DeYOUNG, Corning, Iowa; and Art (Ramona) DeYOUNG, Eagle Grove; the mother of his children Gloria HISCOCKS, of Britt; and many nieces and nephews.

His parents, one daughter Kathy DeWALL, two brothers Dan and Tom DeYOUNG, and one son-in-law Ray BAGLEY preceded him in death.
