February, 2001Marguerite E. "Marge" NELSON, 73, of 321 4th NE, Mason City, Iowa died Saturday evening, February 24, 2001 at Mercy Medical Center, North Iowa.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 1, at Fullerton Family of Funeral Homes, 123 2nd St. SE, Mason City. Officiating will be the Rev. Scott HOLMES of Grace United Methodist Church. Inurnment will be at Columbarium II of Memorial Park Cemetery at a later time. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Marguerite E. NELSON Memorial Fund.
Marge was born on June 28, 1927, one of two children to Calvin and Cecelia (KILBERG) LAWRENCE at Prophetstown, Ill. She graduated from Prophetstown High School in 1945 and attended school at Sauk Valley Community College in Sterling, Ill. She later moved to Chicago where she met and married James NELSON on Feb. 5, 1954. To this union were born three children. They lived for awhile in Illinois, moving to Mason City about 1958. While being a homemaker and raising her family she worked at various jobs in North Iowa. She loved all types of music, and was in a Trio that sang for businesses and churches. She also was an actress in the Community Theaters in Chicago and here in Mason City. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church.
Those thankful in sharing Marge's life include her three children, daughter Mary DUGGAN, Mason City, sons David and his wife Cathy NELSON, Dallas, Texas and Sven and his wife Rose NELSON, Marble Rock, Iowa; four grandchildren, Justin BOSS, Amber JOHNSON, Andrea COOPER, and Sven NELSON Jr.; and three great-grandchildren, Tessy, Trevor, and Devin.
Marge was proceeded in death by her parents and one brother, Calvin LAWRENCE.
