Obituary - Tressie (Abbas) Stadtlander
Tressie STADTLANDER, 88, of Meservey, passed away Sunday, September 12, 2010 at Good Shepherd Health Center in Mason City. Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M., Tuesday at the First Reformed Church in Meservey with Rev. Rodney MEESTER presiding. Interment will be at the Meservey Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 – 6:00 p.m., Monday at Retz Funeral Home, 201 Ohio Street, Meservey. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the church or the Alzheimer's Association in her memory.
Tressie STADTLANDER was born, March 16, 1922 at Lakota, Iowa a daughter of Edward and Alice (BOCKHOLT) ABBAS. On October 28, 1939 Tressie was united in marriage with Bennie STADTLANDER. They farmed together at for area farmers and themselves in the Meservey area. Bennie passed away May 29, 1989. Tressie moved into Meservey.
Tressie became a member of the First Reformed Church in Meservey in 1940. She was a member of Reformed Church Women's Ministry and was devoted to service of the church. She loved traveling with her brothers and sisters and sharing birthdays and holidays with family.
Her family includes two sons: Edward (Janice) STADTLANDER, Meservey; Lee (Cathy) STADTLANDER, Ankeny; six grandchildren: Annette (Tony) COCKRELL, Darcy LUTGEN and friend Dave RUITER; Shelly BLACK and friend Rohn KUHLERS; Danelle STADTLANDER and friend Mike BALEK; Troy (Alicia) STADTLANDER; Rachal (Mike) Bryan; 10 great-grandchildren: Cody, Tristan, Abby, Adam, Grant, Caden, Carlee, Caylee, Olivia and Matthew; sisters: Fannie (Warren) BRAUND; Edna (Clarence) ISEBRAND, Esther (Ordel) DICKMEYER and brother: Teus ABBAS.
Tressie is preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 sisters and 2 brothers.
Retz Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
