Thursday, May 12, 2011MAPLETON, Minn. — Olga STEINBERG, 86, Mapleton, Minn., and formerly of Fairmont, Minn., and Mason City, Iowa, died on Tuesday, May 10, 2011, at the Mapleton Community Home in Mapleton.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 13, at 10:30 a.m. at Zaharia Family Funeral & Cremation Service of Truman. Interment will be held at Lakeside Cemetery, Fairmont.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 12, at Zaharia Family Funeral & Cremation Service of Truman from 5-7 p.m. and one hour before the services on Friday.
Olga Sophia Adelina WOLF was born on May 15, 1924, in Rolling Green Township, Martin County, Minn., to Dietrich "Dick" and Marie "Mary" DIEKMAN WOLF. Olga attended rural schools in Martin County, Minn. Olga was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church (Missouri Synod).
On April 12, 1942, she married Walter SAGER at Russell, Minn. After their marriage, Olga lived with her parents in Bemidji, Minn., until late 1945 when Walter was discharged from the U.S. Army at the close of World War II. They farmed for a brief time in Pleasant Prairie Township and then moved to a farm near Marshall, Minn. In 1950 they moved to a farm west of Truman until moving back to Pleasant Prairie where they remained from 1954-1959. They lived in Fairmont from 1959 until 1978.
From her marriage to Walter in 1942 until his death in 1968, Olga was a homemaker, worked for the Fairmont Community Hospital for 10 years and for Drs. ZEMKE and ZEMKE for 5 ½ years.
Olga married Ralph DeMEO at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Fairmont, Minn., in 1972 and he died 2 ½ years later. During this marriage she worked for Gardner Drug Store and H & H Enterprises of Fairmont. Olga later met and married Donald STEINBERG on April 12, 1978, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Fairmont. They moved to Buffalo Center, Iowa, where they farmed until 1988. Due to health problems, they moved to Mason City until Don'’s death in 2007.
Olga did housecleaning in the Mason City area until her health gave out. Don and Olga were devout members of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Mason City.
Due to health concerns, Olga moved to Oak Terrace Assisted Living in North Mankato and lived there from August of 2007 until February of 2009 and then to North Point Senior in North Mankato. In October of 2009, she then moved to the Mapleton Community Home.
In her lifetime, Olga enjoyed time spent with her children, grandchildren and family, dancing, playing cards, sewing, gardening and canning.
Olga is survived by three sons, Arlo SAGER and his wife LeAnn, Fairmont, Minn., Darrel SAGER and his wife Linda of Fairmont, Minn., and Curtis SAGER of Truman, Minn.; one daughter, Audrey MOHR of Mapleton; four grandchildren, David SAGER, Traci PAEGEL and her husband John, Kendra SAGER and Calvin MOHR; six step-grandchildren, Heather STEINBERG, Kevin STEINBERG and his wife, Sarah, Casey STEINBERG, Erin ALBRECHT, Scott ALBRECHT and Jeff ALBRECHT; one step-son, Randy STEINBERG and his wife Cheryl of Buffalo Center; one step-daughter, Mary ALBRECHT and her husband Richard of Oronoco, Minn.; two great-grandsons, Brandon and Alex; one great-granddaughter, Alexis; one great-great-grandson, Brayden; three sisters, Josephine OELRICH, Bemidji, Minn., Lydia STOUGH, Bemidji, Minn., and Alice BLOM and her husband Ben of Welcome, Minn.; three sisters-in-law, Eileen SAGER of Welcome, Minn., Marlys BRUNS of Titonka and Shirley STEENHARD of Buffalo Center; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Olga was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Richard WOLF; one sister, Frances STRUCK; husbands, Walter SAGER, Ralph DeMEO and Donald STEINBERG; brothers-in-law, Dewey SAGER, LeRoy SAGER, Wendell STOUGH, Emil STRUCK, Harry OELRICH, Bob STEINBERG, Norman BRUNS and Alfred STEENHARD; son-in-law, Otto MOHR; fathers-in-law, Roy SAGER and George STEINBERG; mothers-in-law, Esther SAGER and Hazel STEINBERG; and sister-in-law, Frances STEINBERG.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Olga STEINBERG Memorial Fund.
