On Jan. 25, 1947, she was united in marriage to Dean CLAUSEN at First United Methodist Church in Mason City, to which she and her husband were life-long members.

Following graduation, Darlene began a 29-year career with Northwestern Bell Telephone Company, starting out as an operator, then working her way up to service observer. She proudly served as a union steward for many years.

Following retirement she enjoyed golfing, attending monthly breakfasts with her fellow retirees, visiting with friends, and spending time with her family.

She had many memorable adventures including a trip to New York City with a friend prior to her marriage and a week-long hike with her son Rick to the bottom of the Grand Canyon at the age of 68.

She was a wonderful homemaker, loved tending to her plants, flowers, and keeping her yard in first rate condition.
