Friday, May 13, 2011MASON CITY — Stephen J. "Steve" CISKA, 72, of 714 11th St. NW, Mason City, died Wednesday, May 11, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
Should friends desire, condolences and memorials may be directed to the Stephen J. CISKA Memorial Fund in care of Anne CISKA, 714 11th St. NW, Mason City, IA 50401.
Stephen Joseph CISKA was born on Oct. 9, 1938, in Chicago, Ill., the son of Martin and Judith (GARRINGTON) CISKA. He attended and graduated from the Albia High School. He then furthered his education at the University of Iowa as well as Northeast Missouri State University, graduating from Northeast Missouri State University with a bachelor's degree in business.
On May 26, 1962, Steve was united in marriage to Letha "Anne" SUTER in Mason City; this union would be blessed with three children: Marc, Elizabeth and Allyson.
Steve loved the outdoors. He especially enjoyed fishing, hiking, sitting around a campfire and going on walks. Steve also liked watching movies and would often times watch them over and over!
Family was the most important thing in Steve's life. He cherished each day he was able to be with his family and loved spending time with his two granddaughters.
Those grateful in sharing in Steve’s life are his wife, Anne CISKA, Mason City; children, Marc CISKA, Mason City, Elizabeth CISKA and her special friend Nate POPE, Mason City, and Allyson CISKA, Fort Collins, Colo.; his two granddaughters, Lily Anne and Ivy Lynn; his siblings, Julie, Carolyn, Jim and May and their families; his sisters-in-law, Mary (John) OERTEL and Cathy ALCORN; his brothers-in-law, Jim (Janet) SUTER and Kevin SUTER; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Steve in death are his parents; his father and mother-in-law, Delphine and Babe SUTER; and his brother, Joe CISKA.
