MASON CITY — Ronald CASTO, 66, of Mason City, died Monday, May 9, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 14, at First Baptist Church, 125 E. State St. in Mason City with the Rev. Ron STEIN officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Mason City.

A visitation will be held at Fullerton Funeral Home, 123 Second St. S.E. in Mason City, on Friday, May 13, from 5-7:30 p.m. and again one hour prior to the service at the church.

Ron was born on July 15, 1944, in Minneapolis, Minn., the son of Alvin and Siv (LIND) CASTO. He grew up in Minneapolis and graduated from West High School. Ron joined the United States Navy in 1963 where he was primarily a photographer. He received his honorable discharge in 1966. He moved to Mason City in 1972 and worked as a salesman for many businesses in town, his last 15 years at J.C. Penney. He was united in marriage to Dianne ONKEN on July 27, 1974.

Ron regularly attended First Baptist Church, was a member of the American Legion and was very active with the Jaycees. He especially enjoyed participating in the Fright Factory and being a bingo caller. Ron was also an avid bowler.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; his aunt and uncle; niece; and a half-brother, Guy CASTO.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife of 36 years, Dianne; brothers, Gerald (Kacey) CASTO of Las Vegas, Nev., and Alvin CASTO, Jr. of Sarasota, Fla.; nephew, David (Julie) CASTO of Inver Grove Heights, Minn.; niece, Cindy (Paul) ENGE of Crystal, Minn.; two great-nieces and one great-nephew.
