May 6, 1949George P. Newman Dies;
Funeral Thursday, 9 a.m.CLEAR LAKE -- Requiem high mass for George P. NEWMAN, 52, who died suddenly at his home 514 N 3rd street, early Tuesday morning of a heart attack, will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Catholic church Thursday morning at 9 o'clock. The Rev. J. J. BUZYNSKI, pastor, will be celebrant and burial will be in Clear Lake cemetery. Ward's funeral home is in charge of arrangements.
The Rosary was to be said at the home at 8 o'clock and by the Catholic Daughters of America court at 8:30 Tuesday evening.
Mr NEWMAN was born Dec. 20, 1896, at Spring Valley, Ill., son of E. J. and Anna NEWMAN, and moved with the family to Forest City about 1915. On Oct. 1. 1919, he was married to Miss Teresa HAYES at Forest City, where they resided un1il 1929 when they moved to Clear Lake and Mr. NEWMAN went into business at both Mason City and Clear Lake as the Mason City Implement company. Owing to failing health the past few years he had gradually been withdrawing from active work.
Mr. NEWMAN was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic church, the Lion's club, Elks lodge and Clear Lake Chamber of Commerce.
Besides his wife, Mr. NEWMAN is survived by 7 children, Mrs. James KNIPE and James NEWMAN, Minneapolis; Donald NEWMAN, student at the Univrsity of Minnesota, Minneapolit; Miss Ann NEWMAN, student at Iowa State Teachers college; and Ellen, Margaret and George at home; 1 grandson, James KNIPE; 2 brothers, Tom NEWMAN, New London, and Edward NEWMAN, Madelia, Minn., and 3 sisters, Mmes. Orville ANDERSON and Harry EHRED, Forest City, and Mrs. George LIGHT, Marietta, Ohio.
