Services for Royal Miller Held at Methodist Church

Aged Lake Farmer Survived by Wife, Seven Children

CLEAR LAKE -- Funeral services for Royal MILLER, 75, who died at his farm home southeast of Clear Lake Sunday afternoon [May 3, 1942] following a long illness of three weeks, were held at the Methodist church Wednesday afternoon. Prayer at the home preceded the church service.

The Rev. Thomas B. COLLINS, pastor, was assisted by the Rev. Orville MILLAR, Dubuque. Ward's funeral home was in charge and burial was in Clear Lake cemetery.

Pallbearers were A. W. MATTIAS, Arthur JOHNSON, R. G. SHUMACHER, T. E. SONDROL, John PERKINS and Ralph KNUTSON. Flowers were arranged by Mmes. Lloyd ___ZIER and Nick VENECHEK.

Mmes. Ole and Carl ASHLAND, accompanied at the pipe organ by Mrs. Harry MASON, sang "No Night Here" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere."

Mr. MILLER was born at Byron, Ill. Nov. 11, 1866, coming to Sheffield with his parents [Cyrus and Jane MILLER] in 1891. Dec. 21, 1892, he was married at Sheffield to Mis Ida WHITEMAN. They moved to Windom, Min., where they lived until 1909 when then came to the vicinity of Clear Lake.

Besides his wife, Mr. MILLER is survived by seven children, Earl, Lloyd, LeRoy, Mrs. George KIMBLE, Miss Elsie MILLER and Mrs. RObert HANLEY, Clear Lake, and Mrs. Charles LOWE, Waterloo; a sister, Mrs. J. L. ROBERTSON, Mason City; a brother, Ransom MILLER, Iota, S. Dak., and 10 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Burrel and Orin, three brothers and two grandchildren.

Mr. MILLER was a member of the Masonic, Woodman and Odd Fellow orders, was known throughout Iowa, Minnesota and Illinois for his practice of faith healing and traveled for many years in that endeavor.
