July, 1958G. Kocourek Dies at Home
CLEAR LAKE -- Gae KOCOUREK, 60, died Friday morning [July 19, 1958] at her home east of Clear Lake. She had been ill for the past few years, suffering from cancer.
A number of years ago she built the Gay K apartments which she operated and later were turned into a nursing home. She helped her son, James, in his antique shop as long as her health permitted.
Mrs. KOCUREK was born April 19, 1898, on a farm south of Clear Lake, the daughter of Joseph and Emma WAKIE TEED. She attended Eden School and Clear Lake High School. She was married Sept. 21, 1915 to Adolph F. KOCUREK of Ledgerwood, N.D. They continued to live there until his death in [Jan 17] 1947 and then the family moved to Clear Lake.
Surviving are three sons, James, with whom she lived; Dr. Gae KOCOUREK, Quincy, Mass., and Harold, Medford, Mass.; two daughters, Mrs. Silas (Laurleen) FATLAND, Clear Lake, and Mrs. Dennis (Cleo Jean) FLANDERS, Des Moines; five grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. H. C. O'BRIEN, Clear Lake, and Mrs. Harry R. ANDERSON, Mason City.
She was a member of the Methodist Church, the Z.C.B.J. Bohemian Lodge, Royal Neighbors, Women of the Moose, AmVets Auxiliary and Grandmothers Club of Mason City.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete at the Wilcox Funeral Home.
